Last updated August 15, 2026

Common warning signs

  • A price that is far below the normal market value without a credible explanation.
  • Requests for gift cards, cryptocurrency, deposits, overpayments, or money transfers before you inspect an item.
  • Links asking you to sign in, enter banking information, or pay a delivery fee.
  • Requests for a one-time password, confirmation code, or remote access to your device.

Protect your account

SellUp will never ask you to share your password or email verification code in chat. Open SellUp by entering www.sellup.ca yourself instead of following an unexpected link.

If something feels wrong

Stop communicating, do not send money, preserve screenshots, and report the listing or user. If money or identity information was stolen, contact your financial institution and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre as soon as possible.
